Barbie Adler left a successful career as an executive recruiter to launch Selective Search, combining her experience recruiting top talent with her passion for helping extraordinary people find love. What began as a vision to bring executive search discipline to personal matchmaking has grown into the nation’s leading boutique matchmaking firm — with over 4,000 happy couples, an industry-high 89% success rate, and a proprietary process built on 185+ years of combined matchmaking intuition.
Barbie is a national expert on dating and relationships. In addition to consulting on national dating-related television programs, Barbie has appeared in Forbes, Fortune, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and CNN. Barbie was selected for Global Dating Insights’ 2026 Power Book, recognizing individuals and companies driving innovation, leadership, and transformation across the global dating ecosystem. She is also an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award nominee, a former Board Member of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), a global peer-to-peer organization.
A message from Barbie
Over 25 years ago, I decided to expand on my career in executive search and apply the proven principles of executive recruiting to personal search by focusing on matters of the heart. After all, to love and to be loved is the most important and powerful of all human emotions.
With this as my goal I created Selective Search, a company where executive search meets personal matchmaking. What started as a dream designed to improve the quality of people’s lives, has evolved into something far beyond what I imagined, a firm built by people who care deeply, serving clients who are ready for what matters most.
Every day, I receive an outpouring of stories from Selective Search couples who are happy in love; getting engaged, getting married and sharing photos of beautiful babies and blended families. To hear these stories, and to see these pictures is to feel the love that we put into every introduction. It is the most fulfilling and gratifying feeling I could have ever hoped to experience, and I am blessed to feel that every day. It is what fuels me, and it is what motivates our entire team to be the very best.
